Individual Therapy

There are many reasons people seek counselling or psychotherapy from relationship difficulties to significant life events, personal loss, or a life change. You may have struggled to form satisfying relationships with those around you and have a desire to understand yourself more.

If you are feeling overwhelmed or stuck right now, working with a trained professional can be incredibly supportive.

I offer a warm, accepting presence and invite you to explore your thoughts and feelings with open-minded curiosity and compassion at your own pace. As a Humanistic Psychotherapist, I believe we all have the potential for personal growth and healing given the right environment.

The therapeutic relationship can be hugely supportive in working with past hurts and my depth of training offers me a real insight into helping you uncover fixed or repeating patterns of behaviour that may hold you back from engaging with life in a more fulfilling way. This increased self-awareness can lead to change and an opportunity to reshape your situation or to enrich your life and relationships.

I offer both short-term or open-ended counselling and psychotherapy and my particular areas of experience and interest include:

  1. Anxiety
  2. Depression
  3. Self-esteem & confidence issues
  4. Bereavement & loss
  5. Living with long term illness or life changing events
  6. Childhood abuse, past trauma & recovery
  7. Developmental trauma
  8. Fear of abandonment
  9. Repeated patterns of behaviour & a desire to break the cycle
  10. Working with older people who may wish to explore what counselling can offer them

Couples Therapy

When we are in a couple, it can be really hard to see where the ‘blocks’ are within the relationship. Having a third person in the room can make it so much easier to spot the unhelpful patterns. Couples therapy offers you the space and opportunity to each be seen and heard and to learn how to resolve conflict, leading to improved communication with one another.

Issues may include affairs, betrayal, anger issues, arguments, differences in parenting styles, life changes, effects of past trauma, lack of intimacy or those wanting more from their relationship.

Training & Experience:

I have an MSc in Humanistic Psychotherapy and a Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling from The Metanoia Institute in Ealing. Other qualifications include:

  1. Certificate in Relational Couples Therapy
  2. BSc Psychology (First Class Honours)
  3. Post Graduate Certificate in Education (5-11 yrs)

I am an accredited member of the UK Council of Psychotherapy (UKCP) and a full member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I abide by the Code of Ethics of both UKCP and BACP.

Prior to becoming a psychotherapist, I worked in the recruitment industry before moving into education for 15 years. During my therapy training I worked at the Olive Branch Counselling Service in Winchester for 3 years, and held an Honorary Psychotherapy placement at the Maudsley Hospital in London.
